January To December Poem by Rimni chakravarty

January To December

January starts with the New Year celebration
Cold is the climate yet in the air is jubilation
The time to parade the woolen garments there in shopping malls, office, and clubs
May be in the zoos where the tigress play with her cubs
It is the time to taste the delicacies
Be it vegetarian or the non-vegetarian cuisines'
The scene continues till the end of February
When gradually the days seems to get longer
Nights turn to shorter
Arrives March
With the gusty wind and the sun radiant bright
Woolen clothes find shelter in the cupboards for another year
Warm winds blow and the face lit up with a glow
To welcome spring
Music ring
In the ears in the form of the cuckoo singing to call its mate
It has to spread the arrival of spring to the world without failing the date
April soon follow with the norwesters banging the doors and windows
The unripe mango fall off the tree
Children come out care free
To pick it up and enjoy the fruit of the summer
The mango fruit grows bigger in size
The sun too shoots out its ray bright
It has to emphasize
That summer has set in
The unbearable heat and sweat
You may find me and you in the market place in search of a green coconut to quench your thirst
The clouds hover the sky
Arrive June and July
With a heavy rainfall
Trees stand tall
To witness the outburst of the clouds into rain falling in torrents
Arrive august to torment
The town with the sweeping flood
The tale continue till September
And the catkins grow to welcome Durga and her family
The clouds too flee
Like patches of white cotton
The Dhaks stats to beat
We forget all our pains to stand firm on our feet
With folded hands to welcome Durga Maa and seek her blessings
My heart sings
My heart dances as I think of Her
Now she is my only mother
I love her and like a child wish to hug Her
She is no idol for me
But a sentiment you see
Autumn passes off to with the immersion of Durga Maa
Arrive early winter
The bees have collected honey to face the war
Days shortens and the nights elongates
Such is now the fate
Arrive December the season of cold and mists
We are there to welcome and wait
To celebrate Christmas
Life pass so does the time
Memories stay to enter the album
With photographs of a toddler singing a nursery rhyme
And also the same toddler a few years later
May bean aged man or a woman applying a pain balm.
