January One Poem by Bernard F. Asuncion

January One

The first day of the new year
Breaks after the last midnight;
The skyway is getting clear,
To replace the dark twilight.

The new year is observed by
People from all walks of life;
Men and women say goodbye
To trouble, sadness, and strife.

Everyone is waiting for
The countdown to hit zero;
To say hello with vigor,
Without a doubt, sans sorrow.

The fantastic fireworks flash
Shows the delightful display;
Watching the beautiful bash,
Revelers relieve dismay.

Hoping for prosperity
From now until December;
Hearts are filled with energy,
As they pray to the Father.
