James Joyce Poem by Panmelys

James Joyce

Like all genius' Joyce is no easy task
To tackle, for his work hides behind multiple
Facets, as a diamond, whose sparkle
Blinds the unwary audience, for his mask,
Covers centuries of great art, which ask
Of a reader to recognize a master, able
To teach, and rebuke shoddy parochial
Modern writing, with a prose of supreme cast!

His early work prepare the way for the later,
Meaning, Finnegan's Wake, and Ulysses.

Of modern prose, Dickens and Joyce, beg you enter,
Their world of city culure, as Orpheus.

London's physical streets gave us Dickens's banter,
Dublin's whispering voices, birthed Joyce's genius!
