On the dunes faraway
I walk and I wonder
whate'er shall we do
it can clearly be seen
romancing is over.

On the dunes faraway
by the side of the sea
I now hear you whisper
from over the water
your goodbyes to me.

On the dunes faraway
better days lie ahead
I turn from my sorrow
no longer in love
with a man who is wed.

On the dunes faraway
you will shortly be free
for I must let you go
a wise act we both know
Our love cannot be.
