It's My Conviction Poem by Arthur Weil

It's My Conviction

Rating: 3.0

Words, sound bites echo into ears
Receptive, digested, recorded, distorted
Quick reflective: "No, no, I disagree! "
I retort: "but it's real, don't you see! "
Angry denial, that the senator is good
He's honest, often misunderstood.
"But dear, his voting record is obtuse!
Red blooded, vociferous, throws a fuse."
"But I like him, he means well."
"I disagree. Should go to hell! "
So our politics in close discussion
More like an argument with a loud percussion
Liberal, conservative, middle of the road
My conviction is MINE damn it, in my own abode!
