It Rains Hope, On The Acropolis Poem by Roula Pollard

It Rains Hope, On The Acropolis

Raining has a scent
like eucalyptus mixed
with lavender, mint, thyme,
love with rosemary... No clouds
above Athens today, the Acropolis shimmering
under a blue hope sun… the scent from the past
like a current letter reaching its destination happily
with sunny love. Will it rain?
Strangeness is a common place in our time.
The sun has many colors, so hope does
as I ascent with you the top of the Holy Rock… her olive trees
offer Peace since antiquity, green grasshoppers sound green hope
wild flowers spread their abundance. This is my home, whenever I leave
I live here, inside the fragrance of Greek time
in my spirit, my country, my country ageless like time. I ascend your
steps in the light of noon sun… like a maiden
at the Panathenean Festival
and listen! The weather forecaster announced
all is fine today, sunny intervals with rain of hope.
Today do not take umbrellas
it rains Hope
with Peace
take flight of new memories
celebrate Peace
