It Is. Poem by Michael Walker

It Is.

Rating: 5.0

('When you read you are never alone'.) .

It is staying home on Saturday night now
if there are no dances on in town;
and watching videos I have seen before.
It is not loneliness.

It is going for solo walks along the riverside track,
as I used to tramp up Rangitoto in two hours flat
and go with the club on the right track in the Waitakere Ranges.
It is not loneliness.

It is reading nonfiction books, mine or rental,
which have numbered footnotes for cross-reference,
a suggestive bibliography and a list of sources.
It is not about loneliness but contacts.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
There is a track going up and down Rangitoto Island in the Waitemata Harbor, Auckland (pictured) . I tramped to the summit many times alone, and once with a group of teachers and students. The Waitakere Ranges are a popular place to go tramping. There are all kinds of native trees there, like the kauri. However, I would not risk tramping there alone.

Amazing poem with a fine imagery where books of your liking or the solo walks alongside river track or to go tramping popular places around Harbor area, Auckland provide you a special kind of company which fills you with satisfaction.

I can hardly comment on my own poem. I would be biased. M.W.

It is not loneliness. Watching dancing and moving home town with great feeling of wonder is very interesting. Reading serious notifications of book is too amazing. A brilliant poem is excellently penned.10

Thanks again. I revised and made a few corrections to this poem this morning. It had to be done.
