Is It Poetry

Rating: 5.0

When words are not enough to express a feeling,
Speaking the heart's language sounds appealing
You might try using ink but will do no good,
It is like smiting a sword, with a piece of wood
Or fashioning a dress out of paper,
Dressing up a prince like a pauper
Like the human body devoid of water,
Like a lone sniper without a spotter,
Or a childless mother praying for a daughter
Writing without feeling is expression's slaughter;
Neither hearts nor minds are made of stone,
These are flesh and blood and injury prone
There's risk and reward in delving into minds,
Inside a heart one might not like what he finds
Restless are the days and restless are the nights,
Till a poet sits down with his thoughts and writes
Shutting out the world often, ignoring worldly cares,
Drawing essence from his soul, a poet dares
Armed with the heart's ink that lessens all fears,
Poetry gets its natural flow as do the poet's tears
When such inspiration comes, like morning dew,
Is it poetry then or something new?

To say a lot of profound things in a single poem is definitely poetry of a high class. Kudos.
