Invocations, For Baby Basco Poem by Hiram Sims

Invocations, For Baby Basco

Rating: 5.0

Let Poetry surround your humble frame
and Letters form the contours of your name
Let all your days be overcome with rhyme
and song mark the occasion of your time

Let sovereign rhythm be your closest friend
and balladry subdue your troubled wind
Let these dark sentences be so inclined
to shield the peaceful nature of your mind

Oh fair Aurora, thou art surely blessed
to feel the warmth of lyric in your chest
to hear the gentle harmonies of truth
envelop all the hours of your youth

A greater gift could not have been endowed
than childhood, raised among words said aloud
Let Poetry, in all its wayward hue
Find its way, from a thousand lips, to you
