Intimidating Me Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Intimidating Me

Do I intimidate you?
I should.
Does that excite you?
It should.

Who would choose the carousel
Over a horse race?
Who would choose a wading pool
Over a reef break?

Where there is treasure
There are traps.
Where there is mystery
There are riddles.

So if simple interests you
Sample some other soul.
If pleasant is to your taste
Look for it in another face.

I am not a piñata
I am a puzzle box.
It will take more than a random rap
To make me disgorge my goodies.

But with gentle hands
And mental ingenuity
The right man might find
Something priceless inside.
