Intervention Poem by Hannah Anderson

Intervention

I tried so hard
To be your friend
But you just want
For it to end.

There’s so much
I want to say
But if I try
You push away

You were drunk
When you called him that night
All you wanted
Was to start a fight.

When you weaponized
Me that day
You lost my trust
Just to make him pay

There’s problems at home
And you hate to lose
But there’s ways to deal
Without the booze.

You gave me up
Without a fight
Though I just did
What I thought was right

Maybe you used me
All these years
A shoulder to cry on
And wipe away the tears.
