Our land of such great diversity;
Stands in an obnoxious dilemma;
For there is diversity, no unity in it.
“United we stand, divided we fall”;
Seems quite unreal today.
Whatever may come, we stand divided;
Always, always.
Religious-diverse, languages-numerous;
Communities-many.
And this is the very cause of the fire.
The fire of religious intolerance, communal carnage and ethnic animosities.
Yes, my India, my great India, they say,
Is the epicenter of nationalism, an epitome of secularism.
But how true is this?
The Delhi Sikh riots,
The Babri Masjid demolition,
The Gujarat communal wars;
Depict the real picture of secularism
The vamp of communalism bites India’s neck.
And her blood is being sucked.
But we are not doing anything.
To cease it.
The smoke of casteism chokes us’
We can hardly breathe;
But no one cares.
The aged think its too late.
Too early for the young.
But we must work,
For may be we can sow a seed,
Of humanism and equality.
That might grow into a formidable tree.
