In The Prime Of Ruby Murray Poem by Francis Duggan

In The Prime Of Ruby Murray

Her beautiful singing voice to many brought such joy
In the prime of Ruby Murray i was a schoolgoing boy
The beautiful songstress from Donegal Road Belfast was famous Worldwide
The marvellous Ruby Murray then she was old Ireland's pride
Since the prime of Ruby Murray some sixty years ago
There has been a lot of changes and time has become my foe
In the British top twenty in nineteen fifty five in one week she had five singles a World record at that time
She was a living legend when in her glorious prime
In December nineteen ninety six Ruby Murray died of cancer when in her sixty first year
Her mellifluous singing voice on cd remains a joy to hear
In her prime one of the World's great pop stars though her gift of life from her has gone
The beautiful singing voice she was born with today is living on
That she deserved to be famous of her none could deny
But since the prime of Ruby Murray so many years gone by.
