In The First Place Poem by Peter Lungile Chidothe

In The First Place

You never knew
What I would be to you
In a place so new
All you thought was you

You took me for all the boys, back in the yard
Tardy with their toys, stuck in the mad

Now when the heart beats, it races
Counting the hard bits, in traces

Alas am gone now, to the unknown
Oh lass you're torn now, to be on the known

All because you missed it, in the first place
