In The Beginning? Poem by George Bernard Hough

In The Beginning?

The world we have known for millions of years
is nearing its end, the worst of our fears.
Our sun no longer gives warmth we require,
the rays for our plants have gone with the fire.
Our people are starving too many to feed,
no matter their status no matter their creed.

The universe contains other planets like ours
which we can inhabit we now have the powers.
The ships we have built to fulfill our plan,
will carry our life form a woman and man
to each of the far away edenous lands
their further existence we place in Gods hands.

The chosen will voyage to worlds we have found,
where life can be seeded in sea and on ground.
All animals of earth in embryo form
awaiting release on some faraway morn.
Flora for making the worlds feel like home,
a landscape created for creatures to roam.

Farewell to the home that has served them so well,
goodbye to their loved ones, they enter the shell,
beginning the journey humanity to save?
or ending their life in a vaccuous grave?
We give them our blessing as watching them leave
God bless you Adam, God bless you Eve.
