Immortal Poem by Edward Dzonze

Immortal

I say,
After stumbling and a fall;
‘I fell to rise up ‘
So I rise up
As if nothing happened,
Limping as I go
I refuse to be grounded.

I say,
After having a bad day;
‘I survived this one to see better days ‘
So I sleep the bad experiences off my mind
Looking forward to a new day,
Soldiering on as I go
I refuse to be held back.

I say,
When betrayed and tormented;
‘this life is to be enjoyed and not endured ‘
So I put myself together for a go
Replacing the tears on my face with a smile
Letting go as I go
I refuse to be traumatized.

I say,
When fear is gaining ground in me;
‘fear is a sure path to nowhere ‘
So I take extra caution in my attempts
Trying as I go,
I refuse to be idle.

I say,
After losing out in a battle;
‘thank God my weaknesses were exposed ‘
So I turn my weaknesses into strengths,
Practicing as I go
I refuse to be victimized.

I say,
When faced with challenges in life;
‘the challenge came my way to be overcome ‘
So I tackle the challenges head on,
Persevering as I go
I refuse to give up on life.
