Imigongo Poem by Ima Ryma

Imigongo

Start of the 19th century,
An African prince did invent
'Imigongo, ' the art to be
An embellishment to present
To visitors who happened by
The princely home on his estate.
Paint design pleasing to the eye,
Geometrics he did create,
Using naturally made paint,
Applied to give an earthy tone,
A mix between bizarre and quaint,
All captured on a surfaced zone.

The surface 'canvas' that be hung,
Be made out of dried out cow dung.
