Ill Poem by Mereia Namatua

Ill

I am not ill, no I am not
But stigma meets me everywhere I go
I am just different, that I am
But how can I explain it to my fellow men?

People tend to call me mad
Shutting their doors so I fled
That stigma, Oh, that stigma
Leave me so I can be free

In the town it’s there
At home it’s there
Sometimes it gets to me
And my brain it sticks

Positive attitude, which I need to have
Positive thinking should be my motto
I cannot combat you stigma
But I can use you to be strong
