If Only Time Allowed Poem by Genevieve Surrender

If Only Time Allowed

Rating: 2.9

Someone once told me,
'if only time allowed'
he'd do marvelous things.

Someone once told me,
'if only time allowed'
a miraculous thing
would be bound to happen.

I tell myself
'if only time allowed'
I'd break the cycle,
and happiness
would be to climb
the tallest mountain
just to stay
for a lifetime
and dream
of the ground.

Callisto, I like your poem. I like the idea of being grounded in the present, pursuing something good rather than being stuck in the past. Below is a poem I wrote long ago about lost love which unfortunately, while sentimental, does sound a bit whiney. Still, I like it. If Only Time Allowed If time allowed me to live two lives instead of one, I would have no obligation except to love you. If only time allowed. If I had known I was steering you into his arms, What different words I would have spoken. If only I had known. If you had known my deepest thoughts and dreams, (Perhaps you would have waited for me.) What a life of love we might have shared. If only you had known. If I knew then what I know now, (I would have waited for you.) What sorrows I could have undone. If only I knew then what I know now. And yet, if ever a man loved a woman, Even if only from afar, I loved you! And If time allows for second chances, I will love you still in this life or the next. If only time allows.
