If It Were Up To Me Poem by Shelley L Baxter

If It Were Up To Me

Rating: 5.0

If it were up to me I wouldn’t say goodbye
I would hold you close all throughout our lives.

If it were up to me I wouldn’t let you hurt
I would kiss your lips, even your fingertips.

If it were up to me I wouldn’t close my eyes
I would gaze at you until we laughed, then cried.

If it were up to me I would never say no
I would dance with you baby –nice and slow.

If it were up to me I wouldn’t change you at all
I would hold you up never let you fall.

If it were up to me I would never let you die
I would caress your heart with our lullaby.

If it were up to me I wouldn’t always cry...
I would never miss you until my dying –sigh.

If it were up to me I would not ever let you die I would caress your heart with our lullaby. Hi Shelley, that lullaby for me would be my precious husband's favourite song 'Summertime'. What wonderful thoughts your precious couplet brought to me this evening, Thankyou so much.--Melvina---

This is a lovely but sad poem. Sad because in spite of what you're saying, it might already be too late. S x
