If I Do Survive Poem by Meron Hailom

If I Do Survive

I got kids to raise,
I got lies to erase;
I never liked life
like I do now,
so for my love
of my life,
and for those who love me,
........on behalf,
I have to struggle
tangle and cradle,
To survive;
I am not yet ready to live,
yet not fair-well,
so I say,
I got to rear my children!
Got to keep on going,
got the right to stay longer;
I reap what I sow,
so I earned the very right,
to watch them grow!
and for this,
I must survive tomorrow!
If I do survive......
