I'd Go Back Any Day Poem by Jayne Louise Davies

I'd Go Back Any Day

Rating: 5.0

Poetry it calls me,
Back to my childhood days,
For its there that I found happiness,
In a very special way.
Those rolling fields where we once strolled,
Picking flowers on our way,
That old park bench,
Where we sat and talked,
The beautiful church,
Where each Sunday we'd pray.
It's a miracle we got through those days,
For health and safety was then unknown,
We walked to school in the deepest snow,
Climbed trees like little acrobats,
No fear of a getting dirty and all that.
Took the rough with the smooth,
Went to discos,
When feeling in the dancing mood,
No mobile phones to ring back home,
Walked the streets at night on our own,
For times we're safer back then,
And wouldn't I love,
To relive those days again!
Poetry takes me back,
Remembering the good times,
When our six inch heels,
Went clickety clack,
What a time that was!
Those days I fondly think of.
