I Was Once A Dreamer Poem by Emelita C. Smith

I Was Once A Dreamer

I build my own world in a far away land
No one is allowed only me knows my paradise
I own the place build with love and peace
Lies and deceptions have no room in that place
It's my haven against troubles, misery, and pain
I felt safe, contented and protected
I thought I built each wall so high and strong
It reaches the sky away from the world
I don't even notice reality slowly creeping in
Destroying every corner till the very end
In my own eyes my dreams came crashing down
Not even single debris can be found
It was like a sand castle taken away by the sea
Not a tiny bit of castle you can find
Now I am living for today, no more dreaming
No more hiding, no more havens from any pain
If tomorrow will come it is not for me to say
Because now I'm living for today
Tomorrow is still a mystery.
