I've Been There Poem by Luz Hanaii

I've Been There

Rating: 5.0

You stand in the shadow that was once my life,
those torturous years enduring the pain of something,
I did not know what?
Outwardly going through the motions
while inwardly wishing to just be done forever.

I didn't think I could ever escape the haunting darkness
which enveloped my soul
a very long and painful road.
But as I inwardly grew and struggled to move forward
the road along with my load became lighter and lighter
'til one day I realized that the shadows were far behind,
like some thick mysterious, ominous foe.

I see in you, the memory of those torturous years,
a suffering once accepted and perhaps embraced.
A pain that appeared out of my control, which
seemed to have no end.
For in sick despair, I found it easier to give-in and accept
that familiar pain, unaware of peace and love ahead.

Your present world is very real to you,
sadness, hopelessness, shadows and fears...
for no amount of light can illuminate your soul
my words of comfort may sound like foreign fairy tales
making you feel that no one can understand.
But I tell you, "I understand, for I've been there! "

Let the seed of hope germinate within your heart
that light may illuminate and dissipate all fear and hate
Forgive, Forget, Repent, Move-on...
and one day you too may say,
"I know... I've been there! "

It has taken 5 years not to actually forgive but to understand reasoning behind so many things. Remembering one still does, though looked at with great wisdom. Each day has been a lesson, each day has flown. I now know there is nothing I can change. May your road see beauty.

I know what you mean, we try to understand what went on, we play the movie in our head, over and over. You're right nothing we can change, only take it as a learning experience. I wish you well in your chosen path.

my words of comfort may sound like foreign fairy tales making you feel that no one can understand. But I tell you, I understand, for I've been there! ... you are always there, of course, because you knew to be... a metaphysical and deep excitement of escape but also of being aloof... You write beautiful Luz... congratulations by dr. Riza

But as I inwardly grew and struggled to move forward the road along with my load became lighter and lighter 'til one day I realized that the shadows were far behind, like some thick mysterious, ominous foe. I read it a second time men must be shown their place like pillars still at homes
