I Think I Saw You Last Night Poem by Aya Poetess

I Think I Saw You Last Night

I think I saw you last night
Your exquisite face etched on the sleeping sea
The moonglade hovered with your silhoutte
As if it conspired
with your innermost desire
to seep the ocean's expanse
and void the infinite distance between us

I think I saw you last night
Amongst the peonies
at the edge of my porch
Their petals wove the shape of your lips
and whirled towards me
As if with you
they colluded
to tug my dear heartstrings
and lace them in the palm
of your soft hand.

The lack of you drifts me to endless imaginings
Was it really you last night?
Or was I dreaming?
If it was you,
I wish
I wish
You'll stay
Even for an ephemeral moment
Will you care for some jasmine tea while you read me poetry
Will you stroke my hair
while I bury my nose
under your chin
to sweep the scent
of your skin?

The lack of you fills the brim of my insanity.
Did I see you last night?
Or was I imagining?
