At the altar, you shout
"you sinned, you sinned
no salvation for you,
should you confess, repent
but expect no forgiveness."
your unholy cossack ruffles,
a tiny meek voice it stifles,
I sinned keeping my eyes shut
I sink in your sins!
Sad to see such corruption in the church. Brilliantly written!
It is but a minuscule minority who are corrupt, Evelyn. But, I am pained because they misuse the religious and spiritual powers they wield over the victims to exploit them.
Excellently written! .. Excellently expressed! .. Definite 5 Stars! ..+++++++++++++++++++++
I am so grateful to you, Becca for the good words on the poem
Thank You for understanding and appreciating my writing, Becca. Feels great
As a Catholic, it enrages me to know the extent of damage that that miniscule minority has done to our religion. And the gall of their superiors to sweep it under the rug! Totally reprehensible! Poet Menon, your total disgust is brilliantly conveyed in this very meaningful poem.
Thank You, Poet Dillip K Swain for adding this poem to your favourite poem list.

Hypocrisy of the self-righteous is exposed brilliantly. Bravo!
Essentially, ‘self-righteousness' is human character. Especially, those who have many skeletons hidden in their cupboards. Thank You, Nosheen.
