I Say, They Say Poem by Taylor Hainline

I Say, They Say

They say this love
will leave me sore,
broken-hearted and torn.

They say I'm a fool,
a hypocrite,
a tool for the pulpit.

They say have fun,
live life,
get out of the mud.

I say I'm in love,
that I'm free
and finally whole.

I say I'm happy,
a truth-teller
of my own life.

I say I'm a sinner,
who was forgiven,
and given a life.

I say I'm a daughter,
a princess of the king,
who will never die.
