I'M Still Awake Poem by Anderson Greenwald

I'M Still Awake

I slowly open eyes to bright lights.
It’s almost noon, but it seems too soon
To wake up yet from my dream.
I lie there for what seems like a day
Just to fall asleep, as the night creeps
On in a slow and steady stream.
I lie awake
To my mistakes
Of being too true
But to go on
Is just too hard
Without you…
Time doesn’t wait for you to stay
All drained of my hopeless ways
Letting go was my big mistake
Like a nightmare while I’m still awake…
