I'M Alex, Not Mexican Poem by Alexander Villegas

I'M Alex, Not Mexican

I have this label placed on me,
That I should be dumb or mean.
I get told I'm a disgrace,
I'm nothing like others of the Mexican race.
I'm not a cholo or a fighter,
I don't smoke their dope so I don't need a lighter.
Maybe if you get to know me you might find out,
I'm not what you say I am.
I am not Mexican, I am myself.
