I Loved Her Once Poem by Timothy Long

I Loved Her Once

I loved her once,
Maybe she loved me too,
It's hard to say the longer time passes,
I didn't like what I was becoming,
I never knew the real you,
Why did you change?
Known as untrue,
Saying I'll get over you,
She claims to still love me,
But doesn't think of me anymore,
I raised you so high that any women are doomed to live in your shadow,
Yet you moved on so easily,
Was it cheating?
What a life half lived,
Time can do so much,
I need your love,
This chain of memories won't go away,
Maybe she hated me,
Maybe I hate her too,
For the ruin we made of each other,
I tried forgetting but a scar remains,
You seem happier now,
Forgetting me as another hurts you too,
Maybe its for the best to give up,
I loved your self-image once,
It unfortunately wasn't real,
All I have left is to heal!
