I Love You, Mom Poem by Elizabeth Wrobel

I Love You, Mom

Rating: 5.0

When I look in the mirror I see your reflection,
I walk into a room, I hear you talking, you're part of every conversation.
With every step I take, you're with me, too,
You're with me everywhere I go, and in everything I do.

I vowed I'd never do it, I'd keep my distance,
But after all of these years, I lost my resistance.
I wanted my own personality,
To create my own individual identity.

I pushed you out of my life
When you offered me much needed advice.
And now I understand after all this time,
What you were passing down to your daughter,
I'm now passing down to mine.

Your wisdom will live on,
For many years to come,
My daughter doesn't want me in her life, but one day she'll understand, too,
All those important things I'm telling her is what I learned from you.
Now, I've turned into you,
That's something I thought I'd never do.

But if there's anyone I want with me all the time, it's someone who,
I admire as much as I admire you!
You're a shadow I just can't shake, but I wouldn't want it any other way,
I love you, Mom! So much more than words can say!
