I Find Myself On A Train Poem by James Edwards

I Find Myself On A Train

Rating: 5.0

I find myself on a train.
Returning to a bed that has missed my weight.
The only light is the one above,
It’s boringness radiating onto the page of
a difficult Sudoku. The blackness of the window
hides any hint of location.
Lost on a track in a permanent tunnel.
But In my cabin, in the seat
next to mine, a girl I know, well sleeps.
Her flawless breathing brings heat to my shoulder.
Her hair whispers on my neck.
Her hand reminds mine of song.
I am convinced that all of life is in her dreams.
That the sun, and oceans,
The fishes and grass
The beat of my heart are
Kept in there.

And I am certain that she won’t wake
until morning.
