I Dared To Touch (For Lucille) Poem by Alistair Graham

I Dared To Touch (For Lucille)

A stunning flower, I crossed its path
On public transport next I saw.
My heart it longed to leave its cage
It leapt, so I leapt also.

I knew my soul for what it was
Yet still so young and tender.
To twine it with this new found flower
Was life to live, else die alone.

The petal lips, the sunflower eyes
The springtime smile, its blossom.
I dared to touch, the slender stem
To propagate, the fated union.
