I Cry For Them Poem by ANANIYA MULUNGU

I Cry For Them

I cry for them
Blameless, delicate and without a voice
That could plead for clemency.
They never glimpse what they were conceived to
Because their bearers don’t find it necessary to permit them to.
Existing in dimness they do
And there in dimness they depart this life
That is why I suppurate for them.

They are cut without human verdict
Detached from the human race where they were made to belong.
I weep for them
For they could be doctors, pilots, teachers
Who could convert this crazy world.
But they are given no dispensation to.
That is why I cry for them.

If only they could know their rights
That they are human beings
Who are supposed to live and live
Without even their bearers forcing them not to
They would roar with joy there in the murky house
That holds them only to torch them.
If they could only run and hide in other rooms
And be spared from the wrath of the merciless houses,
I would smile for them
I would no longer wail for them.

I plead for them
To their cruel bearers
Who destroy them beyond human imagination.
If only they could allow them to leave the dark
In time and come to light
To grin and bring merry to others,
Then I would congratulate the bearers
For keeping that which they conceived.
And I would no longer cry for them.
