I Can't Say That My Heart Flutters Poem by Sumali Nagarajan

I Can't Say That My Heart Flutters

I can't say that my heart flutters
Now when I look at you
Gone are those wonderful years
When I was young & my heart tickety-boo.

Now I am a septuagenarian
Needing hearing aids & a pace maker too
Writing dates of departed friends
Wondering which date is my end too.

We start living our second life
Once we realize we have only one!
Could I please spend it with you?
Cause when I am with you

I know that my heart hums!
