I Am The Human Man Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

I Am The Human Man

Rating: 5.0

All this my creations and destructions
Around me until my evil take over
the entire world,

My first tool was a broken branch
of a tree or a thin bone of an animal.

Then I tamed oxen, camels, horses and goats
Finally I settled with harvesting the earth.
then earth became a god, Neth.

the sun shone above me
gave light for us to work on earth,
Then sun became a god, Seth.

The air around me gave breath to my lungs
Then air became a god to me as well, Nub.

I knew well that I was a machine to hunt
Harvest and breed
But I was confused about my mind
I have seen my body decay and becoming dust
But what would happen to such sensitive mind
after the death.

the answers were all based on my guesses
and fears, after all my reluctant to leave
my children, father, mother, spouse,
siblings and all loved ones and things behind.

hence, I created ghosts and life after death
in heaven or in another birth,
that was the relief for my sorrows
I was in full of hope to be with the dead
in heaven or to be with them in a process
of magical re-incarnations.

That was the beginning of a religion
that was the beginning of a civilization
i was able to tame my goat, camel or horse
by imposing laws on its physical behaviour
but humans could not be controlled
by such simple methodologies.

Human mind was full of curiosity following
unfulfilled desires with far intelligence
sensitiveness.

Hence, I embraced fear into my mind -
fear for sin creating a god
appointing him as the tamer
of the human race; also a theory
of karma, based on my wishes and curses.

The fear for sin has become a whip
of a tamer.

I then created arts, crafts, music,
literature and mathematics
and different sciences.

I have created all.

I am the human man
who has distinguished truth from lie,
compassion from hatred, love from lust.

I have set the stage for a never ending
battle between good and evil.

A very nice poem on how man invented the concept of ghosts, re-incarnation and and heaven. 'I am the human man who has distinguished truth from lie, compassion from hatred, love from. I have set the stage for a never ending battle between good and evil... is so true. A poem to ponder over.10++
