I Am Not Human Poem by Chibueze Oscar Osuji

I Am Not Human

Don't pretend again, I am not human
Let me travel far to the woods this night,
It will be dreadful to love me woman.

When the sun rays are gone and out of sight
I'll plead for your sake, I'll pray for you too
Let me travel far to the woods this night.

Into that dark night more killings I'll do
Bolt that firm door, sing the children to sleep;
I'll plead for your sake, I'll pray for you too.

I'll seek a prey as lupus seek a sheep,
(When the wolf seek a sheep) preying is done;
Bolt that firm door, sing the children to sleep.

In the morn I'll know what I've done is gone
Without the remembrance of the night times;
(When the wolf seek a sheep) preying is done.

Sweet lady, don't pretend when the dark chimes
Don't pretend again, I am not human;
Without the remembrance of the night times,
It will be dreadful to love me woman.
