I Am Human, But I Have A Lover's Soul Poem by Mohammad Younus

I Am Human, But I Have A Lover's Soul

I am human, but I have a lover's soul,
The divine love is the purpose of my life.

And I walk down the labyrinthine alleys,
To prove my fidelity to my beloved.

Irrelevant are the stumbles in my way,
To obstruct me in marching ahead.

I walk on my journey all alone,
And there He is, The Love that awaits me.

Behold the soul of a traveller's dream,
Do you see the milestones on the Road?

How far is still the Beloved's home?
In the midst of this road, I am standing in awe.

Still beyond any measure is the distance,
That remains to be covered.

I am not however tired or scared,
I will with full determination walk forward,
In these winding formidable alleys.

Too much is the spiritual joy and ecstasy,
I derive from travelling to my beloved's home.

It is irrelevant whether or not I reach there,
On time before my death.
My job is to walk without stop on the road.

He lures me to walk to Him running,
He entices me through His lovely winks,
But I however walk slowly and steadily.

The road is stretching long and longer,
To test my vigour and patience.
But I never get disheartened and defeated.

Too much of love I have gained,
From my beloved by standing upright,
Through trials and tribulations.

And I have not at all lost my patience,
In walking on the ever stretching road.

The gaining of wisdom and knowledge,
The invaluable treasure of gifts,
I have got from my beloved.

In appreciation off my walking to him,
With full resolve on the unending
Road of Love.
