I Am Done Poem by Yewande Adedokun

I Am Done

I raise me a white flag
Fought one battle for so long
I must go home
As I have refused to die and to win
I must go home

I am being mocked by adversaries
And my soldiers are back to base
Exhaustedly I swing my sword in no particular direction
Non to show me kindness and nurse my wounds
I must go home now
I fought but my strength was not enough
I screamed and took blows my win will still not come
I must go home

Wishing the battle is over to rest and merry
Wishing a lasting story of victory is told
But the battle lingers
I am of no use now with my aching brows
I must go home
No help to no one I must leave

By morrow, I will lay my head in a long sleep
My destiny is no longer mine to take
Though my heart remains in rage
I must fight in silence now
Just waiting for time to win a battle only time has put in place in the first place.
