I Am Alone, I Fear Poem by Anisha Nyambe

I Am Alone, I Fear

now you have seen
the lands I've been
what can you say
to shores at bay?
seas over shore
no less, death more
hide in your womb
in a whitewashed tomb
with picture on wall
spiders in hall
the merry bell
calls out to hell
saying, 'do go
run to and fro
do not return
or you, I'll burn'
now you have seen
the lands I've been
what do you say
do care to stay
for life alone
is very lone
over the sea
with myself and me
please do not go
to mines and hoe
do stay to stare
at horizon's salt air
we'll sail away
with me, you'll stay
til' hell be gone
and story done
and lands I've dwelt
til' love is felt.
