I Am A Poet And This Is What I Fear. Poem by Alexander Hale

I Am A Poet And This Is What I Fear.

Rating: 5.0

I fear the looks
The awful stares
You'll see me different
Once you know

Just a shadow of a girl
You thoght you knew
Now you cast me out
Because you fear my thoughts were of you

You read my work
And see the words
You think I just tainted your perfect world
You see these things i've written down

You see my thoughts as you want
And not for what they are
Your dirty looks burn me
You promised you'd see
That this is an eternal part of me

I can't change the words
So that they will suit your world
I will not stop
It keeps me from putting on the lock
I'm sorry if you can't see
How important this is to me

It hurts to know
That you think it was just a show
This is me
This is part of who I am
You asked to know
Look here you go

You said it wouldn't be different
You promised me an open mind
But none of this I can find
And now you know

Leave my thoughts
Run away
I understand the fear you feel
You don't get the words that I write
For you never see when my days turn to night

Dedicated to the ones who thought they knew.
