Human Stench... Poem by K J

Human Stench...

The stench of humanity is overpowering
It consumes me to my very existence
Makes me wonder if this is all worth
The ascending into greater things
Life changes constantly
Innocence grows in children
Intent and the beast develops
Into adults possessed with success
At whatever cost of soul or life
A delicious sense of futility
One would tend to think
The clock stops at any time
Batteries will run out
The sort that cannot be recharged
Success and victory come at a price
One must make amends
Before it is too late
One thinks they are immortal
Consumed by what is life
And tend to forget that indeed
We grow older day by day
Our senses weaken with age
We will run out of strength
Before you even take
That next lunch break
Sit and ponder
Away from the smoke
Bustle and madness
One’s own life
Cannot be wasted and torn
By just materialistic needs
Look at those around you
And see that indeed
There is something there
After all it is you that must find it
I cannot tell you
