Huggin' & Bumpin' & Shakin' Poem by John Stetson

Huggin' & Bumpin' & Shakin'

Are we huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'
There's a pox on me if I'm mistakin'
I don't want to leave you there quakin'
If we're huggin' or bumpin' or shakin', huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'

Since before we put quill to papyrus
We've been dancin' with this or that virus
Whether fungus or flu we don't know what to do
We just hide and hope it will pass by us

Are we huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'
A pox on you if I'm mistakin'
I'm standin' in hip boots and quakin'
When we're huggin' or bumpin' or shakin', huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'

The airlines say, 'Come on and fly us! '
The cruiselines are sayin', 'Come try us! '
But when you step aboard with the one you've adored
It's bound to leave you sayin' 'Why us! '

Are we huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'
There's a pox on us all in the makin'
In the store in the school any line as a rule
Where we're huggin' or bumpin' or shakin', huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'

These bugs have been with us forever
They're nothing if not deadly clever
They won't leave us alone and they find us at home
Or engaged in most any endeavor

Are we huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'
A pox on us all is what's bakin'
If we knew what to do with this startling stew
We would know just where we'll all be taken, what medicine we'll all be takin'

These bugs were among us before us
And they'll be here long after this chorus
Fades from the last ear along with the last fear
And these cities turn back into forest

Are we huggin' or bumpin' or shakin'
Stepping back on the road that's less taken
Cause we're creatures of habit at least we're not rabid
I'm not sure about you but we know we don't have it
A sweet pas de deux embracing me and you
As we're huggin' and bumpin' and shakin'
Bumpin' and huggin' and shakin'
Shaking and shaking and shaking
