Hubris Poem by Nicholas Lim

Hubris

This world, shrouded in a veil
Bringing all down to its knees
The state of humankind,
A mask of reality.

The idiosyncrasies of men,
with fake Cheshire Cats roaming,
Cynical, defined as incredulous
of human nature.

This world, defined by a majority,
leaving out a small portion
of kindred souls.

Humility comes at a price,
ostracized by the crowd of
People who do not appreciate the effort,
talking about decorum behind a cover.
