How Could Something Poem by Saucy Elmo

How Could Something

How could something so perfect, show me what I couldn't see?
How was I supposed to know, what this would do to me?
How could I know, this affects who I'm supposed to be?
All I see now, is how much I have left to bleed.
Even though I'm broken, your voice spins me around.
I didn't know how a broken heart would sound.
Life isn't perfect; there are no fairy-tale endings.
There's only fantasy, and hearts that need mending.
When you realize how far you've fallen -
It's too late to stop the clock from stalling.
When you see the damage is done -
I've given up on love.
It is a game you can't help but play.
You decide to leave or stay.
You choose to sink or swim.
I think to myself, 'Why was I ever with him? '
How could something like this, show me what I'm needing?
Even though you were completely deceiving?
Because I saw only what my eyes wanted to see.
I overlooked the things that made you a monster to me.
Now I know, who you really are.
Don't say you're sorry, you've gone too far.
You said you loved me, and you had the nerve?
To try and break me, you'll get what you deserve.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
And your games really do get old!
I deserve something better than you.
Sorry hunny, I'm over you.
