Hostages Poem by William Kofoed

Hostages

People have hopes and plans
That they want to be
They are often
Very driven
To make these
Come true
Also they often have
Children they take along
Children who rarely
Have any say
In how their life's
Will be
The hopes and dreams
Of the child
Will never have
A chance
Adult plan and work
Their dreams to have
But the children
Are not asked
For children are simply
Luggage to take along
