Hope Poem by Tharindu Atukorala

Hope

Lonely hills, lost souls
Howling winds, whisper in my ear
I lift my face, drops of rain
Cold as ice, searing my skin
Lifeless eyes, skim the horizon
Hope and despair tears me apart
A mortal life, Eternal pain
Alone I stand on the edge of a knife….
Will I fall I know not
Fear grips, each move is a risk
What lies beyond, I do not know
The mist clears, the sky shows
A feeling of warmth, welcomes my soul
Hope? Is their hope out there?
I can feel it, yes, I look up and smile
I make my choice I don’t look back
Finally, I know
There is hope out there
