Holiday Starshine Poem by Harley White

Holiday Starshine

Rating: 5.0

With holidays upon us and a New Year once again,
we wonder where the time has gone from nows that turned to then.
While some may hand out presents, part and parcel of the season,
the gift I have to offer is this simple rhyme with reason.

And looking back, I'm thankful for friendship's warming cheer,
which fills our lives to overflowing all throughout the year,
plus nature's gifts intangible a package cannot hold
that prove to be more valuable than the purest gold.

As we gaze at skies above with stellar glow unfurled
my yearning for all those who dwell on our planet world
is for peace and love to enter hearts in fullest measure
with abundant joy mixed in for memories to treasure.

So, let me say, in my own way, with simple quatrains plain
and unadorned by ribbons, what no poem can explain—
just Season's Greetings, one and all, and by the stars that shine,
I wish you Happy New Year in these days of Auld Lang Syne!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is an adaptation of my previous poem "A Christmas Verse"…

About this image ~ Hubble snapped this panoramic view of a colorful assortment of 100,000 stars in the crowded core of a giant star cluster. The image reveals a small region inside the massive globular cluster Omega Centauri, which boasts nearly 10 million stars.
