History Remembers Its Darkness Poem by Dorsey Baker

History Remembers Its Darkness

War like slavery
make the world turn dark
and its face
turn away from the light
Acts of courage
can silence the fear
History tells the story of itself
Battlefields wallowing blood
Terror in the streets
Pain stabs
like a pitchfork
in the heart
So many crimes committed
So many lives
being determined by their circumstances
History books testify
it is an ugly picture
no matter how you look at it!
It'll still be ugly!
