Hello Mother Poem by Casey Renee Kiser / snail viXen

Hello Mother

The grass moves, hello Mother,
the blades of grass cut another

I know you could not cradle me
because you slither

I know you could not walk with me
because you slither

I know you could not love me
because you slither

I've learned to shed your shadow
but heredity is a stubborn skin, let go!

I swing the ax
at your shopping cart veins

I swing the ax
at your freezer burnt brains

But you slither too fast
as you take out the trash

You slither downtown to be free,
you slither far away from me
